The Burmese Python is found throughout Asia, distributed throughout tropical regions. Their food consists of mice, rats and larger mammals as well as chickens, but in captivity, new-born chicks should not be used exclusively or vitamin deficiencies will occur. The female lays 20 – 50 eggs and coils her body around them for incubation. During incubation, the females’ body twitches every few minutes; this is believed to be associated with her attempts to raise the eggs’ temperature. John Travolta wore a pair of Burmese Python boots in Urban Cowboy, which created a demand for the snakes and has added to their numbers being reduced in the wild. By adopting/part adopting a Burmese Python, you will be playing an active role in the support of wildlife and its conservation.
